If you read this article, then you might probably have just received an email with an invitation to participate in the Proof of Concept on the DeskAlerts. Here are the steps to start using our software and sending your alerts
Check what you've got
The letter you have received from our manager or an engineer should contain:
- Link to the web panel of your Deskalerts server
- Login and password to access the panel
- Link to download user-side client app for Windows PC
Log in to your server
Follow the link and use the provided credentials
The initial screen you get after a successful login should look like:
Later you can add more user accounts so they can manage the server, and publish content
Install user-side applications
The link to download an installation package for Windows workstations is usually provided along with the server link and credentials.
Client apps for mobile devices can be acquired here:
- for iOS https://itunes.apple.com/app/mobile-alert-client/id592345705
- for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toolbarstudio.alerts
If you'd like to test the macOS client app too - contact your manager or support@deskalerts.com as it requires to be prepared separately
Please, refer to this section to get more information on client apps setup
Register new users
On the first startup, installed Deskalerts client checks whether the workstation belongs to any domain. In such a case, it automatically registers at Deskalerts server with the logged-on user's credentials. In other cases, you will be asked to fill in a username and a password.
Please note, that this is a registration process, therefore you can fill in ANY username and password. A new user with these credentials will be created on the Deskalerts server. The only exception is when a user is already registered. In this case, you'll receive the message "incorrect password"
This is true for PC, MAC, and mobile apps
In mobile apps leave the domain field empty - you don't need it at this point
